Jacksonville Engagement Photographer | Kerry and Joe’s Sunrise Session at Johansen Park in Atlantic Beach

Kerry and Joe’s sunrise engagement session at Johansen park in Atlantic Beach, Florida is exactly the kind of session that reminds me why I love being a Jacksonville wedding and engagement photographer. After getting rained out the evening before, we decided to try again at sunrise the following morning, and were rewarded with beautiful and dreamy light without compromising the soft golden hour we initially planned.

From start to finish, their Atlantic Beach engagement session felt so deeply personal. Kerry brought such a clear vision rooted in her love for literature, romance, and whimsical storytelling. I felt as if I stepped into a storybook version of their own personal love story, while remaining a fly on the wall to capture it all. As a Jacksonville and North Florida engagement photographer, I always encourage couples to go against the grain, and lean into what feels more like them, versus what trendy Pinterest poses tell them to do, and this was the epitome of just that.

Kerry and Joe are getting married next mark at The Clay Theatre in Green Cove Springs, Florida and if their wedding details are anything like their engagement photos were, I have zero doubt that it will be a day filled with personal touches that make the day feel deeply personal to them.

Johansen Park in Atlantic Beach gave us the dreamiest backdrop for their sunrise engagement photos, with soft light, lush greenery, and early morning stillness that you only find at sunrise. I love photographing engagement sessions in Atlantic Beach, Ponte Vedra Beach, Amelia Island, and St. Augustine because each location offers something slightly different, but all share that same coastal North Florida feel.
