Long Island Engagement Photos: Amanda and PJ's Rainy and Romantic Peconic Bay Boat Session
Amanda and PJ have one of those incredibly unique kinds of love. They are opposites, yet they balance each other out perfectly. I truly believe that opposites attract, and their love story is pure proof of this.
When Amanda approached me with her vision for a different and unique Long Island engagement session, I was on board right away. As a Long Island engagement photographer, creative liberty and the chance to do something out of the ordinary are what we live for. It reminds us why we do what we do and allows us to fall in love with our craft all over again.
Amanda initially envisioned a gorgeous sunset engagement session, but the forecast showed storms and clouds for most of the week. Instead of postponing, we embraced the unpredictable weather, knowing that sometimes the best Long Island engagement photos come from unexpected moments.
We started at PJ's parents' home in Nassau Point, Cutchogue, taking relaxed photos in the backyard of his family's private beach residence. Amanda thought of every detail, from her white flowy dress and matching white linen button-down for PJ to the hand-picked shells woven into her perfectly natural, beach-waved hair. These light and airy elements created a stunning visual contrast against the dark stormy skies.
Embracing the Rain on Peconic Bay: Long Island Boat Session
Next, we moved to the water, where Amanda and PJ posed effortlessly with dark stormy clouds in the distance. Despite a few raindrops, we continued shooting, capturing their love amidst the dramatic backdrop. The true-to-color approach in this session highlighted the rich, natural tones of Peconic Bay, bringing out the deep blues of the water and the subtle hues of the cloudy sky.
Our adventure then took us to our friends, Kevin and Joanna's place (stay tuned for their gorgeous Alure Restaurant Wedding coming soon to the blog). Kevin kindly took us out on the family boat, where we flew the drone and captured a stunning bird's-eye view of Amanda and PJ at the head of the boat. It was a challenging shot, with five of us huddled underneath the canopy, but it turned out to be one of my favorites.
A Serendipitous Sunset at Robin's Island: Summer Engagement Photos on Long Island
We then cruised to the sandbar attached to Robin's Island in Peconic Bay, a nostalgic spot for me from my childhood. Just as we arrived, the clouds parted, revealing a breathtaking sunset with immaculate pink hues. One of my favorite images is of a seagull perfectly framing Amanda and PJ against the sunset sky. These summer engagement photos truly captured the essence of Long Island's natural beauty.
As we headed back to dock the boat, the clouds opened up in a big downpour. Instead of packing up, I seized the moment and had Amanda and PJ pose for a few more shots on the dock. They were already wet, so why not? The result was some of my favorite photos from the entire session, capturing a romantic scene straight out of a movie, reminiscent of "The Notebook."
The Beauty of Letting Go: Long Island Engagement Photography
This session reminded me that sometimes you need to let go of your perfect vision and let nature take its course. The spontaneous and unexpected moments often result in the best photos. Amanda and PJ's rainy Peconic Bay engagement session on Long Island is a beautiful example of embracing the elements and finding magic in the moment.
