As a photographer that grew up on Long Island, I’ve dreamed for years of photographing at Salt Air Farm in Cutchogue, NY. This farm isn’t just any venue though, it’s deeply personal to me. The owner, Prudence, has been a family friend for decades. My mom taught Sunday school with her at the Mattituck Presbyterian Church, and growing up here in Mattituck makes this place feel like home. To finally photograph an engagement session at Salt Air Farm was a dream come true.
Despite a forecast of clouds, we were blessed with the warmest, dreamiest golden hour light imaginable. Salt Air Farm, tucked away in the heart of the North Fork of Long Island, welcomed us with wildflowers, fresh fruit trees, hydrangeas, doves, and that gentle salt-kissed breeze rolling in off the Peconic Bay.
A Dream Engagement Session at Salt Air Farm
Prudence gave us the sweetest welcome, walking us around the farm and introducing us to the animals who call it home. We met Sam, the friendly farm cat, and Eleanor, the sweetest dog who happily joined us as we explored. Kensie and Paul picked fresh cherries right off the tree, and we couldn’t resist eating a few—delicious, ripe, and unforgettable.
The highlight of the evening was the doves. Just as the sun dipped lower, they took flight, circling above before returning home with perfect timing. It added the most romantic and cinematic touch to this engagement session, creating photos that truly feel like a fairytale.
